Here are some pictures I took at the Bridgeport Fire. Click on a picture to see a larger version.

This was a small fire (2-3 acres) in a steep canyon. Thanks to an initial air drop from one of the Grass Valley air tankers and the quick response of Penn Valley Fire, CDF and Copter 205 this was contained rather quickly.

The CDF firefighting team stages on the north side of the river and awaits further orders.

CDF copter 205 dips out of the river just above the rapids. This is about a quarter of a mile upstream from the bridge.

Copter 205 had only about a 2 minute turn around time, if that. Very fast.

Only 2 crews were able to get their engines in to the fire initially leaving 205 to do most of the work.

Here are some local boys watching 205 refill their bucket just a few feet away. They later commented that the whole scene was "awesome".
